From 16 year old Charlie Bowden: My name is Charlie. I live in Pontshill and recently turned 16. In November of 2019 my Mum, Sarah Bowden, received the terrible news that she had bowel Cancer. After having a major operation and a few months of recovery she was declared Cancer free in June of 2020. She continued to have problems after her operation which meant she wasn’t actually fully recovered until the Summer of 2023, poor mum. I have been doing lots of Charity events with various charities since I was 9 years old but since my Mum had Cancer I have mainly concentrated on cancer based charities such as World Cancer Research and Macmillan. My next event is for Macmillan Cancer Support and is to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with my Dad this October. This hike is going to take us about 7 days to climb up and down the mountain. For this event Macmillan has set us with a target to raise £12,000. Now obviously this is not going to be an easy job so to try and raise this amount of money we have set up mini charity events … This event will help Charlie reach his target.
